# Personal Settings

Every preference on this page is **personal**: it follows your account, not your organization. Two people in the same workspace can work in different languages, themes, and time formats without affecting each other.

Open them from **Settings > Appearance** and **Settings > Preferences**.

## Appearance

### Theme

Pick **Light**, **Dark**, or **System** from the theme cards. The change applies the moment you click — no save needed — and persists across sessions and devices you sign in from with the same browser. **System** follows your operating system's light/dark setting automatically.

> **Tip**
>
> The moon/sun toggle in the top bar switches between light and dark instantly from anywhere in the app — the theme cards and the toggle stay in sync.

### Compact mode

Turns on a denser default for the assessments board: smaller cards with tighter spacing, so more work fits on screen. Click **Save appearance** to apply.

The board's own **View** menu still has a per-session Compact Mode switch — use it to temporarily override your default without changing the setting.

## Preferences

### Language

Choose from **English, Français, Español, or Deutsch**. The interface switches immediately, and the choice is saved to your account — so **emails and notifications Kliper sends you arrive in the same language**.

> **Note**
>
> Framework content — PCI DSS requirement text, section titles, and response terms like *In Place* / *Not in Place* — always stays in English. The English text is what governs an assessment, so Kliper never translates it. Cortex can still explain requirements in your language while quoting the English source.

### Timezone

Shown for reference and detected from your device — it is the same timezone the clock in the top bar uses. There is nothing to configure: work from a different timezone and both update automatically.

### Use 24-hour time format

Switches every time display to 24-hour format (14:00 instead of 2:00 PM): the top-bar clock and all calendar views — event times, agenda cards, hour axes, and event details.

### Start week on Monday

Controls the first day of the week across the calendar: the month grid, week view, year view, and the mini calendar all start on Monday when enabled, Sunday when disabled. Click **Save preferences** to apply.

## Notifications

Two layers, both personal. **Delivery channels** decide *how* you hear from Kliper; **activity notifications** decide *what* you hear about. Turning a channel off silences it everywhere; turning off a category silences that category on every channel.

| Setting | Effect when off |
|---------|-----------------|
| **Email notifications** | No notification emails reach your address |
| **In-app notifications** | Nothing is stored in your bell menu or pushed live |
| **Comments & mentions** | No notification when someone @mentions you or comments on an assessment |
| **Evidence uploads** | No notification when a client submits evidence you requested through the portal |
| **Assessment updates** | No notification for QA submissions, approvals, requested changes, requirements sent back, being added to an assessment, or due-date reminders |
| **Usage & plan alerts** | No warning as your workspace nears its Cortex allowance or storage limit, and no notice when the plan lapses or a payment fails |

> **Note**
>
> Every category is on by default, and each is per user — your teammates' settings are unaffected. Notifications about your account's security (two-factor changes, sign-in alerts) are always delivered and are not covered by these toggles.

> **Note**
>
> **Usage & plan alerts only reach Admins and Managers** — the roles that can change a plan. Members never receive them, whatever their setting says.

## Other personal settings

| Tab | What lives there |
|-----|------------------|
| **Profile** | Name, avatar, bio, and your QSA report profile (seeds the ROC §1.1 Lead Assessor fields) |
| **Security** | Password, two-factor authentication, passkeys, trusted devices, active sessions |
| **API** | Personal bearer tokens for the Kliper public API |
